M5 Drivers Shocked as Yellow Car Drives Wrong Way on Motorway
A yellow car caused chaos on the M5 in Devon, driving the wrong way and leading to a police response

Exeter: A wild scene unfolded on the M5 when a yellow car was spotted driving the wrong way. It all kicked off around 7:50 PM on a Sunday evening.
Police got the call and rushed to the area between junctions 28 and 30. Thankfully, they managed to stop the car at junction 29 before anything serious happened.
It was a shocking sight for drivers, as the car was heading south on the northbound side. Traffic was held up for a bit, but the road was cleared and reopened by 10 PM.
Patrol Constable William Welch mentioned how alarming this must have been for those who saw it. He thanked everyone who called 999 to report the situation.
They’re also looking for more witnesses, especially anyone with dash cam footage. If you have any info, they want you to call 101 and reference log 677 12/1/25.
As for the driver, a 36-year-old woman from Exeter was arrested on suspicion of being unfit to drive due to drugs and for dangerous driving. She’s out on bail until March 13, 2025.
Devon and Cornwall Police are still gathering information about the incident. They want to hear from anyone who saw the yellow car on the wrong side of the motorway that evening.
