Lurgan: So, there’s been some troubling news from Lurgan. Police are investigating signs that were put up outside Dickson Primary School. They think these signs might be racially motivated, which is really concerning.

The signs appeared on Monday evening, tied to the school railings in the Mourneview estate. This comes after a suspicious incident at a nearby play park last Thursday. It seems like there’s been a bit of unrest in the area lately.

On that Thursday night, a few properties were vandalized, and even a police vehicle had its window smashed. The police got a report about someone acting suspiciously at the park, and they ended up arresting a man nearby.

Things escalated a bit, with a crowd gathering and causing trouble. Superintendent Brendan Green mentioned that the people whose homes were targeted had no connection to the earlier incidents.

He said the signs have been taken down and that they’re treating this as a potential racially motivated public order offense. The police are asking anyone with information to reach out to them.

Dickson Primary School hasn’t commented on the situation yet, but it’s definitely a tough time for the community. Let’s hope things settle down soon.
