Sligo: A beloved family shop is closing its doors after 52 years. Murrays Spar in Ballydoogan has been a staple in the community, and it’s a bittersweet moment for everyone.

Jerry and Marie Murray opened the shop back in 1973. Their three kids even helped out during summer breaks. It’s been a real family affair!

They’re set to serve their last customers on Friday, January 17. Locals are already feeling nostalgic, especially about the deli that everyone loves.

Marie expressed her gratitude to the staff and the community, saying how much they’ve appreciated the support over the years. It’s clear they’ll miss everyone.

One local shared a heartfelt message online, thanking the Murrays for their warmth and dedication. It’s touching to see how much they’ve meant to the area.

Another resident reminisced about the day the Murrays took over from the previous owners. It’s been a significant part of the community for so long, and folks are sad to see it go.

The Murrays have also been big supporters of the local GAA club, St Mary’s GAA, just a stone’s throw from their shop. Their presence will surely be missed.
