Manchester: Tommy Fury has opened up about why he and Molly-Mae Hague split. He says it was all about his struggle with alcohol addiction. They were together for five years and even had a daughter named Bambi before parting ways in August 2024.
In an interview with Men’s Health UK, Tommy shot down rumors that he cheated on Molly during a trip to Budapest. He explained that his drinking problem, which started after a boxing injury, was the real issue.
He said, “The reason why me and Molly broke up was because I got addicted to alcohol. I couldn’t be the partner I wanted to be anymore.” It’s tough for him to admit, but he’s being honest about his struggles.
Tommy also talked about how his mental health took a hit after surgery, which kept him from training. With his fitness routine gone, he turned to drinking to cope.
He shared, “I’ve only lived for training and my family, and that was all snatched away from me. So I started to drink quite a lot. It made me feel better, but it was a bad cycle.” He insists he never cheated on Molly-Mae, despite what people might think.
Tommy emphasized, “Cheating was never a thing. It was the drink, and the drink is not a good thing.” He wants others to know that turning to alcohol won’t solve your problems; it just makes things worse.
He expressed disappointment over the backlash he received during the split. “I’ve received so much hate for it. Not once did anyone say, ‘Oh, he might be going through something serious.’”
Tommy is now in a better place, having overcome his addiction. He just wishes people would have shown a bit more understanding instead of judgment. “I’m not looking for sympathy. I just want to do my fights, earn my money, and look after my daughter.” You can catch the full interview on the Men’s Health UK YouTube channel.
