Louis Rees-Zammit’s shock statement, new life and uncertain future one year into NFL dream

Penarth: So, can you believe it’s been a year since Louis Rees-Zammit decided to leave rugby for the NFL? It’s wild! He made that big announcement last January, and everyone was shocked. This guy was a rising star in rugby, scoring amazing tries for Wales and the British & Irish Lions. But then, out of nowhere, he said he was going to chase his NFL dream.

He kicked off his journey by joining the International Player Pathway, which helps athletes from outside the U.S. get into American football. Louis went through a tough training camp and was gearing up for his NFL Pro Day. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned, and he didn’t hit the numbers he wanted. But scouts were still interested, and he ended up signing with the Kansas City Chiefs.

At first, it seemed like a dream come true. He got to train with some big names, including Patrick Mahomes. But then, after a few preseason games, he found himself cut from the team. It was a tough blow, especially after signing a three-year deal just months earlier. But the Jacksonville Jaguars swooped in and signed him to their practice squad, giving him another shot.
