Stoke-on-Trent: A school is currently in partial lockdown. This happened after police responded to a disturbance nearby. Families at Birches Head Academy received a message about the situation.

The principal, Paul Masher, assured everyone that the school day continues as usual. However, students and staff are staying indoors for their safety.

In the message shared with parents, he explained that local police reported a civil disturbance. They decided to implement a partial lockdown to keep everyone safe.

Mr. Masher understands this might worry parents but emphasized that staying inside is the safest option. He’s in touch with the police and will provide updates throughout the day.

He also asked parents not to come to the school, as it could create unnecessary panic. The school has limited access to outdoor spaces and restricted visitors and deliveries.

Students will have designated indoor areas for breaks and lunch. The staff is reminded of emergency procedures, and the leadership team is on high alert.

Mr. Masher promised to keep families informed about the situation, including how students will exit at the end of the day.

We’ve reached out to the Frank Field Education Trust and Staffordshire Police for more information.
