Detroit: So, the Lions’ offensive coordinator, Ben Johnson, is really making waves this season. He’s been a hot name for head coaching jobs, and honestly, it’s easy to see why.

In their latest game against the Bears, the Lions set a franchise record for points scored, and Johnson pulled off this wild play. It was in the third quarter when Jared Goff seemed to trip after taking a snap. Meanwhile, running back Jahmyr Gibbs fell down like he was trying to recover a fumble. The Lions’ sideline was yelling “ball” to sell the fake, and then Goff got up and threw a touchdown to a wide-open Sam LaPorta.

LaPorta called it the “stumble bum” play, and it was inspired by a moment he saw from Packers quarterback Jordan Love last season. Goff shared that Johnson had asked him earlier in the week if he could fumble on purpose and then pick it up. Goff was a bit skeptical about that idea!

Gibbs chimed in, saying that Johnson’s creativity is off the charts. He mentioned how you usually only see plays like that in college football, where they pull out all the stops for explosive plays.

Even though Johnson might not stick around with the Lions for long, if he keeps coming up with these kinds of plays, it’s going to be a memorable ride for the team.
