Blackpool: It’s a sad day for fans of Linda Nolan. The beloved singer and TV star passed away after battling double pneumonia, her family shared. She was just 65 and had been fighting cancer for nearly 20 years.
Linda got sick over Christmas, but her family said she seemed to be doing better at the start of the new year. Sadly, she was admitted to the hospital on Saturday due to breathing issues and passed away on Wednesday, surrounded by her loved ones.
Her sister Maureen expressed her heartbreak, saying, “I’m just so sad. The big C didn’t get her; it was the pneumonia that took her. She fought hard for so long, and I want everyone to stay hopeful.”
Linda’s agent, Dermot McNamara, announced her passing, highlighting her incredible career as a pop legend and TV personality. He mentioned that she passed peacefully at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, with her family by her side.
Linda was part of the famous Irish group The Nolans, alongside her sisters. She had been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, went into remission, but sadly, it returned in 2017 and spread over the years.
Her sister Coleen also shared a heartfelt tribute, calling Linda a beacon of love and strength. She remembered her sister’s infectious laughter and the warmth she brought to everyone around her.
Linda’s nephew, Jake, shared his fond memories, saying she was the fun aunt who let him stay up late and enjoy life. He appreciated her authenticity and the joy she brought to their family.
Just days before her passing, Linda wrote her last column for the Mirror, sharing her struggles with what she thought was the flu. She reflected on feeling better and the joy of recovery, ending with a hopeful note about her resilience.
