Ottawa: So, the Liberal MPs are finally getting together in Ottawa. It’s the first time since Trudeau said he’s stepping down. You can feel the buzz in the air.

They’re having a national caucus meeting, both in person and online. It was supposed to last six hours, but now it’s all about what’s next for the party.

With Trudeau out, they need to find a new leader who can really stand up to Pierre Poilievre, the Conservative Leader. That’s no small task!

Some big names are already thinking about running. Cabinet ministers like Jonathan Wilkinson and Karina Gould are getting calls from party members, and they’re seriously considering it.

Then there are others like Chrystia Freeland and Anita Anand who are chatting with fellow MPs to see who might back them. It’s all a bit of a game right now.

Meanwhile, the top Liberal folks are huddling behind closed doors this week. They need to set up a committee to organize the leadership vote and figure out the rules.

But don’t expect those rules to come out right away. It could take a few days once they get the committee going. It’s a busy time for the Liberals!
