Levenshulme: A man has been sentenced to a hospital order after a fatal stabbing incident. It all went down in July 2023 when police were called to a home on Rushmere Avenue.
When they arrived, they found Osagie Aimiyekagbon, 36, dead in the kitchen. It was a shocking scene. Samuel Opokiti, 30, was initially taken in for questioning on suspicion of assault.
But things escalated quickly, and he ended up being questioned for murder. A judge at Manchester Crown Court decided that Opokiti posed a danger to himself and others.
Police reported that they found Aimiyekagbon with serious stab wounds around 8:45 PM on July 9. A knife was also recovered from the scene, which added to the grim situation.
Sadly, he was pronounced dead right there. A post-mortem confirmed that he died from multiple stab wounds. Det Ch Insp Neil Higginson expressed hope that the sentence would bring some closure to Aimiyekagbon’s family.
He mentioned how deeply affected the family has been by this tragic loss and that their thoughts are with them as they try to rebuild their lives.
