Letter: ‘No wonder people are dumping their rubbish on the roadside’

Verwood: A local resident recently faced issues while trying to dispose of rubbish. They visited the Longham dump, but it was closed due to flooding. So, they tried the Somerley dump next. Unfortunately, they couldn’t enter because they didn’t have a booked slot.

The dump was empty, with no one else there. Only workers were waiting around. The resident asked why they couldn’t dump their rubbish. The staff explained that without a booking, it would create chaos.

Frustrated, the resident went home and tried to book a slot online. However, they couldn’t get a spot that day, even though the dump was empty. They had to wait until the next day to book a time.

When they arrived, there were only four cars in their time slot. This situation seemed ridiculous, leading to the conclusion that it’s no wonder people are dumping rubbish on the roadside. The resident also praised the polite staff at Longham for their helpfulness.
