Leicestershire Council Issues Warning About Fake Parking Fines Scam
Residents in Leicestershire are being targeted by a scam involving fake parking fines
Leicestershire, Parking Fines, Scam, Queniborough, UK
Leicestershire: So, there’s been a bit of a kerfuffle in Queniborough. The local council is warning folks about some dodgy parking fines popping up. Apparently, fake penalty charge notices have been slapped on cars around Rearsby Road Playing Fields.
These notices are asking drivers to fork out £20, but the council is saying, “Not us!” They don’t issue any parking fines, and they’re pretty sure these demands are just a scam. It’s a real head-scratcher!
The fake fines claim you’re being charged for “obstructing gateway” and want you to pay up by January 1, 2025. The council is urging anyone who gets one of these notices to report it right away. Better safe than sorry, right?
Rachel Barlow-Skinner, the parish clerk, is really stressing the importance of being careful. She’s saying if you get any notice about a parking charge that looks like it’s from the council, it’s definitely a scam.
So, if you see one of these notices demanding £20, make sure to let the parish office know. And don’t hesitate to contact the police if anything seems off. Stay alert, everyone!
