Lee-on-the-Solent: The skate park at Pirates Cove closed in 2022. It was permanently shut down in May 2024. A report found the concrete surfacing and safety barriers were unsafe.

Trucks and an excavator took down the park. It used to have ramps, pipes, and a grind rail.

Rich Patterson watched the demolition and took photos. He confirmed all the ramps are gone now.

People on Facebook wondered what would replace the park. One parent said her kids loved the mini ramps.

Another commenter noted kids hang around shops when parks close.

In June 2024, parents Matt Grey and Beth Frecknall started a petition to save the skate park.

Despite the barriers, some people still used the park. The petition gained 237 signatures to relocate the park.
