Leaders Urge Maharashtra Governor to Remove Dhananjay Munde from Cabinet
A group of leaders met with the Maharashtra governor to demand Dhananjay Munde’s removal following the murder of a local sarpanch.

Beed: So, a bunch of leaders got together and met with the Maharashtra governor, C P Radhakrishnan, to push for the removal of Dhananjay Munde from the cabinet. They’re really concerned about the murder of a local sarpanch, Santosh Deshmukh, and want a fair investigation.
These leaders, including BJP MLA Suresh Dhas, handed over a memo at Raj Bhavan. They’re calling for some serious action to restore public trust in the justice system. Deshmukh was reportedly kidnapped and killed because he tried to stop some shady dealings with a wind energy company.
So far, the police have arrested seven people in connection with this case. One of them, Walmik Karad, who’s linked to Munde, turned himself in recently. The leaders are demanding Munde step down and want a murder charge against Karad, along with action against any police who didn’t do their jobs right.
They say extortion has been on the rise, especially during the 2024 elections, and it all led to Deshmukh’s tragic death. Just a few days before he was killed, an officer from Avaada Power was kidnapped but managed to escape thanks to the police. However, the Beed police faced a lot of criticism for not acting sooner.
The leaders also claimed that Karad had been threatening Avaada officials for money and that his crew attacked security at the company’s site. Deshmukh’s murder was brutal, and a video of it was even shared to scare others. His body was found nearby, and the locals protested for justice.
After public pressure, the police finally took action, but it seems like they were slow to respond. Karad made a video announcing his surrender, and there was quite a scene when he showed up at the CID headquarters in Pune.
People are questioning whether Karad is getting special treatment and if powerful figures are influencing the investigation. The memo was signed by several notable leaders, including former MP Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati and Congress MLA Vijay Wadettiwar.
