Grade II Listed Former Kent Restaurant May Be Transformed into Homes
Plans are underway to convert a historic restaurant in Kent into three houses, sparking local interest and concern

Tunbridge Wells: A former restaurant, known as The Weavers, might be turned into three homes. This Grade II-listed building has been a local landmark for years.
The place has seen many changes over time. It started as a pub, then became a Thai restaurant, a grill house, and most recently, it was called Imli before closing in June 2023.
People remember when the owners had to repaint the windows after a colorful makeover that didn’t sit well with the locals. Now, Larkhall Lane Property Limited wants to change things up again.
They’ve applied to the council to knock down some modern extensions and convert the main building into a single home. They also want to build two new semi-detached houses on the property.
The Weavers is a charming timber-framed building with a unique L-shape and lovely gables. It’s been restored over the years, and its history is well-documented.
One local, Trevor Hayman, expressed hope that the building wouldn’t be demolished. He noted that it’s currently boarded up and in a bit of a sad state.
The application argues that removing the modern parts of the building will help preserve its character and allow for new homes that benefit the community.
They’re seeking full planning permission and listed building consent, which means they want to make sure everything is done right.
