Landlady ‘Gobsmacked’ After Learning Her Pub Was Named Best in Merseyside
Carol Ross was shocked to discover The Roscoe Head was named the top pub in Merseyside by The Telegraph, celebrating its rich history.
Liverpool, Merseyside, The Roscoe Head, Carol Ross, Pub, Award
The Roscoe Head has been around for nearly 200 years, and it’s a family-run place that’s all about good vibes and great conversations. No loud machines or distractions here, just a cozy spot to enjoy a pint. It’s even the only pub in the North of England that’s been in every CAMRA Good Beer Guide since it started back in 1974.
Carol fought hard to buy the pub back in 2020, saving it from closure. She was over the moon when she finally got it, saying it was a huge relief after a long battle. When The Telegraph praised her efforts, she was genuinely surprised and joked about being in the papers more than fish and chips!
She expressed her pride in the pub and her staff, saying they all work hard to keep the place special. It’s been a great start to the year for Liverpool’s pub scene, with another local spot, Hobo Kiosk, also getting some recognition in a European bar guide. Seems like Liverpool is really shining in the pub world!
