Plymouth: So, here’s the scoop. Devon and Cornwall Police have had to refer themselves to the police watchdog after a tragic incident involving a woman named Lacey Lake. She was found in a caravan in Tamerton Foliot, and it turns out there was some prior contact with the police before her death.
Lacey, just 24 years old, was reported missing on January 6. The police considered her a medium risk. They searched a caravan the next day, and that’s when things took a serious turn. They got called out around 1:20 PM because someone was worried about her well-being.
Sadly, when paramedics arrived, they pronounced her dead. The police said her death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious at this point. They’ve informed her family, but formal identification hasn’t happened yet.
Right now, the police are preparing a file for the coroner. They mentioned that since her death is non-suspicious, they won’t be sharing more details for now. But they did confirm that they’ve made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct because of their previous contact with Lacey.
It’s a tough situation, and the police are waiting to see what the IOPC will say about it. They haven’t mentioned if a post-mortem has been done yet, so we’re all just hoping for some clarity soon.
