Plymouth: So, it turns out the Labour council has only managed to fix one mile of the 136 miles of pothole-ridden roads. Can you believe that? It’s pretty shocking!

According to the Department of Transport, Plymouth is the worst in the UK for fixing these pesky potholes. Over a quarter of those roads need some serious TLC, but only a tiny fraction got repaired this year.

Potholes can really mess up your car, not to mention they’re a hazard for pedestrians and cyclists. It’s a real mess out there!

The council is pushing back against the DfT’s findings, saying they’ve done a lot of prep work that didn’t get counted. But locals are feeling the pain. One driver, Chloe, shared that her car’s suspension is always acting up because of the potholes.

She mentioned how hard it is to avoid them when the roads are so narrow. “If you go anywhere in Plymouth, you can find a pothole,” she said. That’s just wild!

On the bright side, the council is getting an extra £1.175 million to tackle this issue. They say that could help fix over 16,000 potholes. Fingers crossed!

Izak, a mechanic in town, said customers are always complaining about potholes when they come in for repairs. It’s a real headache for everyone.

The council is trying out a new machine that can fix roads quickly and cheaply without all the fuss of traditional methods. No road closures and repairs ready in minutes? That sounds promising!

They’ve done over 8,000 repairs with this new system, which is way more efficient than the old ways. The council claims they’re working hard to reduce potholes and keep the roads in better shape.

Meanwhile, other councils, like Norfolk, are doing much better, fixing 92% of their roads needing repairs. It’s a tough spot for Plymouth, but hopefully, things will improve soon!
