Tameside: So, there was a bit of a scare at Hyde High School last week. Police got called in after two students had a disagreement during lunch. Turns out, they found a knife afterward.
This all went down on a Friday afternoon. Thankfully, the school staff jumped in quickly, and no one got hurt. The kids were moved to another field for safety before heading back to class.
A teenage boy was taken in by the police for having a blade. He’s been charged and is now working with youth services. It seems the knife wasn’t shown during the whole thing, which is a relief.
One parent said their kid called them around 1 PM to share what was happening. The school sent out a text saying there was an incident but reassured everyone that the kids were safe and back in class.
Another parent got a similar message, which didn’t go into details but confirmed that the kids were alright. The school later described the situation as an isolated incident.
A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police mentioned they were called around 12:45 PM about the disturbance. They’re working with schools to keep kids safe and often hold sessions to talk about the dangers of carrying knives.
Parents were understandably concerned but appreciated the school’s quick response. The school thanked everyone for their support and said they were proud of how the students handled the situation.
