New York: The Knicks had a rough night against the Bulls, losing 139-126. It was their second loss in as many days, and the third quarter really did them in.
They started strong, outscoring Chicago 33-29 in the first quarter. Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby were on fire early. But the Bulls kept it close, thanks to Coby White’s buzzer-beater three-pointer.
In the second quarter, both teams kept scoring, but the Knicks focused on driving to the basket. Brunson was a beast, finishing the half with 26 points and leading New York to a 72-63 lead.
But then came the third quarter. The Knicks’ defense fell apart, and they got outscored 41-17. Chicago was hitting threes like it was nothing, with White going 9-for-11 from beyond the arc.
New York struggled, making just seven field goals in that quarter and missing all their three-point attempts. Karl-Anthony Towns tried to bring them back in the fourth, scoring 25 points, but it wasn’t enough.
Despite Towns’ impressive performance, the Bulls kept scoring and held off the Knicks. They got within six points at one point, but Chicago’s offense was just too strong.
Josh Hart played a lot of minutes but only managed two points, even though he had a double-double with 16 rebounds and 10 assists. The Knicks shot poorly from three-point range, while the Bulls were on fire.
It was also Derrick Rose Day in Chicago, honoring the former Bull and Knicks player, which added some excitement to the game.
Next up, the Knicks head back to Madison Square Garden for a five-game homestand, starting with the Orlando Magic on January 6.
