Kiwanis Club of Greater Ironton’s event supports Open Door playground expansion

Ironton: The Kiwanis Club of Greater Ironton recently held a fun event called “Mingle Bells” on December 17 at Mailroom Studios. It was a great night with nearly 50 folks coming together to network and celebrate.

Everyone learned more about the club’s mission to help kids. A big highlight was when they presented a $7,000 check to the Lawrence County Developmental Disabilities Open Doors School. This money will kick off the first phase of their playground expansion, adding swing sets and features that make it accessible for all kids.

Sean Davis, the club president, shared how amazing the energy was that night. He said it’s heartwarming to see so many people excited about helping children. Thanks to their fundraisers and ongoing projects, they’re making sure all kids have a place to play and thrive.

The event was made even more special with support from local businesses and community leaders. The oversized check presentation, courtesy of Oops! I Shirt Myself, really brought a festive vibe to the evening, highlighting the importance of community efforts.

The Kiwanis Club is all about improving kids’ lives in Ironton through service and educational programs. They work with local organizations to create opportunities that uplift youth and ensure a brighter future.

If you’re interested in helping out with local youth initiatives, the Kiwanis Club welcomes new members. They meet every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Ohio University Southern in the Ohio Room. There are plenty of ways to get involved, so don’t hesitate to join in!
