Kirklees: So, the council’s got a bit of a money problem, right? They’re looking to sell off 30 more properties to help fill a £29.3 million budget gap. It’s a big deal for them.

They’re hoping to rake in about £6 million from these sales. This includes everything from community centers to old pubs. It’s all laid out in a report for the upcoming Cabinet meeting.

One of the notable properties on the list is the old Gomersal First School. There was a bit of pushback from the public, but the council is moving forward anyway.

They’ll be asking members to give the green light for these sales soon. Some tenants are even interested in buying the freehold of certain properties, which is pretty cool.

It’s a mixed bag of land and buildings across the area, including some prime spots in Huddersfield and Dewsbury. The council’s got its work cut out for them, but they’re determined to make it happen.
