King’s Lynn: So, there’s this guy, Zachary Mason, who got himself into a bit of trouble. He was caught with a Japanese fighting knife while driving under the influence of drugs. Not a great combo, right?
He’s 39 and showed up in court recently, where he admitted to drug-driving and having that knife. The police pulled him over last June on the A10, and when they asked if he’d been using drugs, he confessed to smoking cannabis the night before.
Turns out, a roadside drug test came back positive. They found he had more than the legal limit of cannabis in his system. And then, during a search, they discovered the knife in his pocket. He claimed it was for work, but he also admitted he knew it was a weapon.
In court, he mentioned he had other tools in his vehicle, like chainsaws and hacksaws, since he runs a building and decorating business in Norfolk. He said, “I know it’s an unorthodox knife, but I use it for work.”
Now, the magistrates are waiting for a pre-sentence report, which means he could be looking at jail time or even a trip to the crown court. For now, he’s out on bail but has been temporarily banned from driving. He’ll be back in court on March 27 to find out what happens next.
