Sacramento: So, Mike Brown got the boot from the Kings after just 31 games this season. Can you believe it? He had a 13-18 record and just signed a three-year extension six months ago.

When reporters asked other coaches about it, Denver’s Michael Malone had some strong words. He knows the feeling all too well since he was fired by the Kings back in 2015 after only 24 games.

Malone said he wasn’t shocked by the news, but it still stung. He pointed out that in the NBA, players get the glory when things go well, but the coach takes the heat when things go south.

He didn’t hold back, saying, “No class, no balls,” especially since Brown was let go over the phone while driving to the airport. Ouch!

Steve Kerr, who worked with Brown in the past, also weighed in. He subtly praised his own team’s front office for valuing stability, hinting at the Kings’ situation.

Then there’s Jordi Fernandez, who used to be an assistant under Malone and was with the Kings. He expressed sadness over Brown’s firing, saying he wouldn’t be where he is without him. Just a year and a half ago, Brown was Coach of the Year!

Rick Carlisle, the Pacers coach, was also taken aback. He called Brown a standard bearer for integrity in coaching and couldn’t believe the Kings made that decision.

Brown really turned things around for the Kings, leading them from a 30-52 record to 48-34 in his first season. It’s hard to wrap your head around this firing!
