In the footage, Kiena, who was seven months pregnant, sat on her bed, overwhelmed with emotion. She told the police that Wellings threatened to report her mental health issues, making her fear for her unborn child. It was clear she felt trapped and alone.
She described how Wellings took everything from her, even her shoes and jewelry, and how he had people who supported him. Kiena felt she had no one to turn to, which is just so sad. The police were there to help, but she felt completely isolated.
Wellings faced serious charges, including assault and controlling behavior. He was found guilty of some charges but not of manslaughter. The trial revealed a long history of abuse leading up to Kiena’s tragic death on a railway track in July 2022.
