Woolwich: A tragic incident unfolded on January 7 when a 14-year-old boy was fatally stabbed on a bus. Kelyan Bokassa was on route 472 when the attack happened just before 2:30 PM.

A 16-year-old, who can’t be named due to legal reasons, faced Bromley Youth Court on Thursday. He’s been charged with murder, which is just heartbreaking.

The court heard that Kelyan was stabbed multiple times while heading home. Sadly, he died from a severed femoral artery. It’s just so tragic.

The defendant, dressed in a grey sweatshirt, confirmed his identity during a brief hearing that lasted about 10 minutes. He’s now in custody at a youth detention center and is set to appear at the Old Bailey on Monday.

There’s also a second boy, just 15 years old, who’s been charged with Kelyan’s murder and is expected to appear in court later on Thursday.

A 44-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly helping an offender but has since been released while the investigation continues.

Police arrived at Woolwich Church Street, near the ferry, shortly before 2:30 PM on that fateful day. Kelyan, who had dreams of being a rapper, sadly passed away shortly after medics got there.

His mother, Mary Bokassa, described him as kind and caring, saying, “I can’t believe he is gone. I cannot believe it.” It’s just so heartbreaking for any parent to go through.

At a vigil held last week at a church near the bus stop, one of Kelyan’s friends shared that he had a “pure heart” and would “always be there for you.” It’s clear he was loved by many.
