London: Kelyan Bokassa, a young rapper, was tragically stabbed on a route 472 bus last Tuesday. It’s such a heartbreaking story, and now an inquest has been opened to look into what happened.
During a virtual hearing, Coroner Michelle Haste shared some details. Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee explained that the police got a call around 2:28 PM from a bus driver who reported the stabbing.
Kelyan had boarded the bus at North Greenwich train station at 2:06 PM. Just 20 minutes later, two boys got on and went straight to the top deck where Kelyan was sitting. They attacked him right away.
Passengers on the bus quickly called for help, and the driver stopped on Woolwich Church Street. Sadly, the attackers ran off, leaving Kelyan in a terrible state.
Some passengers tried to help him down the stairs and got him to a seat on the lower deck. The bus driver called for emergency services, but despite their efforts, Kelyan couldn’t be saved and died at the scene.
The inquest revealed that he died from a stab wound to his right thigh, which severed his femoral artery. It’s just so tragic.
Two boys, aged 15 and 16, have been charged with Kelyan’s murder and are set to appear at the Old Bailey soon. A woman, 44, who was arrested for helping an offender, has been released while the investigation continues.
At a vigil held for Kelyan, a friend shared how he had a “pure heart” and was always there for others. It’s a tough time for everyone who knew him.
