Salford: Wow, what a year for Keely Hodgkinson! The 22-year-old Olympic 800 meters champ just snagged the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year award for 2024. Can you believe it?
She’s had an amazing run, winning gold at the Paris Olympics and defending her European title. Plus, she set a new British record of one minute 54.61 seconds, making her the sixth fastest woman ever. That’s just incredible!
In the public vote, darts star Luke Littler came in second, and England cricket player Joe Root took third place. It was quite the ceremony in Salford!
What’s even cooler? This marks the fourth year in a row that a woman has won this award. Before Keely, we had Mary Earps, Beth Mead, and Emma Raducanu. Talk about girl power!
