The Blue Jackets have placed Justin Danforth on IR and assigned James Malatesta to Cleveland, impacting their roster ahead of upcoming games

Columbus: The Blue Jackets have put Justin Danforth on Injured Reserve. He got hurt during the game against the Philadelphia Flyers on December 10th. In that match, he played just under ten minutes and managed to block two shots.

Right now, it’s unclear when he’ll be back on the ice. The team also took James Malatesta off the roster. There’s no official word on why, but he’s been sent to Cleveland, which is the only option available for him. So far, neither Columbus nor Cleveland has announced any other roster changes.

Today, the Cleveland Monsters are facing off against the Rochester Americans, but Denton Mateychuk won’t be playing. Also, defenseman Zach Werenski got hurt in last night’s game against Philly. He returned to the ice but looked pretty banged up. Maybe that’s why Mateychuk is out.

Stay tuned, as THN Columbus will keep you in the loop with any updates. Next up, the Blue Jackets are set to host the Montreal Canadiens at Nationwide Arena on Monday night.
