He had two separate incidents where he attacked her, and it sounds like he was just throwing a fit over some dinner plates. The prosecutor laid it all out in court, saying he called her names and even threw toys at her. Can you imagine? There were kids around, including a baby!
In the second incident, things escalated. She called him lazy, and he just snapped. He threw plates at her, and she wasn’t having it—she threw some back! But it got really bad; he hit her with a high chair and a mop. One of the kids even ran upstairs crying.
The woman shared how Maddocks had made her feel worthless and unlovable. She’s been trying to move on but still has nightmares about what he did. It’s heartbreaking to hear how he messed with her life so much that she had to quit her job because of anxiety.
Maddocks had a previous conviction, but his lawyer said he’s been trying to get help. The judge, Paul Lawton, decided to give him a break this time, saying he showed some insight into his actions.
