Cardiff: Last week, the legal community came together to honor Huw Evans, a well-respected barrister who sadly passed away. He was known for his impressive work, including a high-profile case in the Caribbean. But more than that, he was the brother of Wynne Evans, the popular radio presenter and Strictly Come Dancing star.

The courtroom was packed with colleagues and friends who wanted to pay their respects. Judge Lucy Crowther led the eulogy, sharing heartfelt memories of Huw, who was born in Carmarthen in 1962. He was the eldest son in a family of talented individuals, with his brothers also making names for themselves in the opera world.

Huw’s mother, Elizabeth, even inspired a film called Save The Cinema, after she fought to keep a local cinema open. Judge Crowther also mentioned Huw’s early days as a dancer and his time in the Royal Navy, which eventually led him to a career in law.

He started practicing law in Cardiff in 1989 and became known for handling complex fraud cases. Huw was married to Donna, and they had two sons and two granddaughters. He even faced the terrifying Hurricane Irma while living in the Caribbean, an experience he described as one of the scariest moments of his life.

Wynne Evans, who joined the tribute via video link, shared his sorrow over losing his brother. He called Huw his hero and inspiration, expressing how much he would miss him. The love and respect for Huw were evident, as many shared stories of his loyalty and kindness.

It was a touching moment for everyone involved, and it showed just how much Huw meant to those around him. His legacy will surely live on through the memories and stories shared by friends and family.
