Mumbai: Pritish Nandy, the renowned journalist and filmmaker, passed away at the age of 73. His son, Kushan, shared the news late Wednesday night. Nandy was known for his unique storytelling and for supporting fresh talent in the Hindi film industry. One of his notable works was the film “Kaante,” featuring Sanjay Dutt.

Many friends are in shock over his sudden passing. Director Sanjay Gupta recalled how Nandy was the first to back “Kaante” just minutes into their meeting. He described Nandy as a solid supporter who stood by them throughout the project.

Meghna Gulzar, who worked with Nandy on “Just Married,” remembered him as a passionate and creative force. She admired his integrity and his roles as a father and friend. His impact on culture and politics will be felt for years to come.

Actor Anupam Kher expressed his sorrow on social media, calling Nandy a dear friend and a remarkable talent. He credited Nandy as a source of strength during his early days in Mumbai.

Director Milap Zaveri also shared his memories, describing Nandy as a “lion among men.” Kareena Kapoor Khan paid tribute with a heartfelt collage from their time on set together.

Nandy was not just a filmmaker; he was also a poet, painter, and a member of the Rajya Sabha. He wrote 40 poetry books and translated works from various languages into English. He founded Pritish Nandy Communications in 1993, producing many acclaimed films and shows.

Throughout his career, he received numerous awards, including the Padma Shri and the International Humanitarian Award. His legacy will continue to inspire many in the industry.
