Belfast: John George’s family is going through a tough time after his body was found in Spain. His dad, Billy, shared the sad news on social media.

John was reported missing for nearly three weeks before he was discovered under some trees on a farm in Rojales, which is about 40 minutes south of Alicante. His family had been searching high and low since he disappeared on December 14.

Billy confirmed that John’s funeral will be held next Friday. He mentioned on Facebook that John’s body will be at his mother’s home starting Monday, inviting everyone to come and pay their respects.

In the meantime, a 32-year-old man was arrested in Spain as part of the murder investigation but has been released on bail. He denies any involvement in John’s death.

The George family recently met with the PSNI to discuss the investigation, and their solicitor expressed satisfaction with the communication from Spanish authorities. They plan to meet again in two weeks for updates.

Back in Spain, people have been leaving tributes at the site where John was found. Photos and flowers have been placed there, showing how much he was loved. O’Neill’s funeral directors are also helping the family and have set up a book of condolences for anyone who wants to share their thoughts.
