Cincinnati: So, did you catch the game? Trey Hendrickson was on fire against the Steelers, racking up 3.5 sacks. That brings his total to a whopping 17.5 for the season, making him the league leader. Joe Burrow is all in on Hendrickson for Defensive Player of the Year.
After the game, Burrow talked about how crucial the Bengals’ defense has been for their playoff hopes. He really highlighted Hendrickson as the game-changer. It’s clear he thinks Hendrickson deserves the award.
Burrow said, “Trey Hendrickson, after tonight, I don’t know who else is gonna win Defensive Player of the Year other than him.” He was really impressed with how Hendrickson got to the quarterback whenever he had a chance.
Now, the betting odds tell a different story. Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain is the favorite, followed by Steelers pass rusher T.J. Watt. Hendrickson is sitting at +2000, which isn’t great, but he’s in the mix with a couple of other players.
Since joining the Bengals from the Saints, Hendrickson has been a beast with 57 sacks over four seasons. He’s definitely one of the best free-agent signings in recent NFL history. If the Bengals can sneak into the playoffs, watch out, because Hendrickson could really give Josh Allen and the Bills a tough time.
