Miami: So, Jimmy Butler was back at practice with the Heat after missing a few games. Reporters finally got a chance to ask him about his future, especially after that Christmas report saying he might want a trade.
When asked if he wants to be traded, he played it cool. He said, “Does it matter? I honestly do not care about getting traded.” It’s like he’s saying it’s all out of his hands anyway.
Heat president Pat Riley quickly shot down any trade rumors, saying they’re not looking to move Butler. But when Jimmy was asked if he’d be happy staying with the Heat, he was pretty vague. “I don’t know,” he said. “Only time will tell.”
He seems to be in a good place right now, though. He mentioned he’s happy, healthy, and has his kids around. That’s what really matters, right?
Butler is gearing up to play against the New Orleans Pelicans soon. His future with the Heat is still a hot topic, and he’s keeping everyone guessing. When asked if he wants to stay, he said, “That’s a good question. Who knows? I don’t.”
He’s been with the Heat since 2019, and while Miami might be open to offers, Butler is looking for a team that’s ready to win now. Teams like the Suns, Warriors, Mavericks, and Rockets are on his radar.
Butler didn’t get a contract extension this summer, so he’s got a player option left. Rumor has it he won’t take that option, which means he could hit free agency in July. This season, he’s averaging 18.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.9 assists.
