Miami: So, Jimmy Butler was back at practice with the Heat after missing a few games. Reporters finally got a chance to ask him about his future, especially after that Christmas report saying he might want a trade.

When asked if he wants to be traded, he played it cool. He didn’t really confirm or deny anything. He said, “Does it matter? I honestly do not care about getting traded.” It’s clear he feels like it’s out of his hands.

Heat president Pat Riley quickly shot down any trade rumors, saying they’re not looking to move Butler. But when Butler was asked if he’d be happy staying with the team, he said, “I don’t know. We will see.” He’s keeping it real, saying it’s a business and he won’t hold any grudges either way.

Butler mentioned he’s in a good place right now, with his kids around and feeling healthy. He’s ready to play against the Pelicans soon. But the chatter about his future isn’t going away anytime soon.

When asked directly if he wants to stay with the Heat, he said, “That’s a good question. Who knows? I don’t.” He’s just focused on competing and winning, enjoying the attention and speculation around him.

Butler’s been with the Heat since 2019, and it sounds like he’s looking for a team that’s ready to win now. He’s got a few teams in mind, like the Suns and Warriors, but for now, he’s just taking it day by day.

He didn’t reach a contract extension this summer, so he’s got a player option left. Rumor has it he might not take that option, which would make him a free agent in July. This season, he’s averaging 18.5 points, so he’s still got it.
