Wrexham: So, Jeff Stelling and Ally McCoist are pretty upset about the League Managers Association’s decision. They think it’s ridiculous that Wrexham’s Phil Parkinson isn’t getting into the 1,000 club.

Last weekend, Parkinson hit a huge milestone by managing his 1,000th game when Wrexham beat Peterborough United. He’s been doing an amazing job, leading the team to two promotions. You’d think that would be enough to get some recognition, right?

But nope! The LMA says his time in non-league football doesn’t count. That’s left him about 100 games short of the mark. McCoist called the ruling “ridiculous,” and Stelling was right there with him, saying it’s unfair to dismiss his achievements.

Parkinson has been with Wrexham since 2021 and has already overseen over 100 matches. He took them to the play-offs in his first season and then won the National League title with a record 111 points in his second.

The LMA has strict rules about what counts for their Hall of Fame, and unfortunately, Parkinson’s non-league games don’t make the cut. They say it’s been this way for ages, but it still feels a bit harsh, especially given how well he’s done.

Even the LMA’s chief executive acknowledged Parkinson’s achievements, but the rules are the rules. It’s a tough break for a manager who’s clearly made a big impact in the game.
