Los Angeles: It’s a sad day in Hollywood. Filmmaker Jeff Baena, who was married to actress Aubrey Plaza, has died at just 47. Authorities say he died by suicide at his home in Los Feliz, California, and his assistant found him.

Baena was known for his unique style and creativity in films. He directed and co-wrote several popular movies like Life After Beth, Joshy, and Horse Girl. His work really made a mark in the industry.

Born in Miami, Florida, Baena grew up in a Jewish family and later moved to New York to study film. He eventually made his way to Los Angeles, where he met Aubrey Plaza during her audition for Life After Beth in 2011. Their relationship blossomed into both a personal and professional partnership.

His directorial debut, Life After Beth, was a big deal for him. He once said it felt right to finally be directing after years of writing. It was his dream come true.

After more than ten years together, Baena and Plaza tied the knot in a small ceremony at home during the pandemic. Plaza, known for her roles in Parks and Recreation and The White Lotus, shared some funny thoughts about their marriage in a recent interview.

She joked about staying away from dating actors, saying, “I’m married to a writer/director.” It’s clear they had a special bond, both on and off the screen.
