Naas: So, Jarlath Burns reached out to Naas GAA about Rory Gallagher becoming their coach. He had some serious concerns about it.
Gallagher didn’t take it lightly. He asked for Burns to take back his email, saying it was damaging. If that didn’t happen, he hinted at legal action.
In his email, Burns shared worries about how Gallagher’s appointment could stir up trouble in the club and beyond.
He made it clear that Naas GAA could do what they wanted, but he felt it was important to voice his concerns.
This all comes after Gallagher faced some serious allegations from his estranged wife, which he has denied. He claimed investigations found he had “no case to answer.”
Burns, on a recent show, said he wouldn’t just sit back as president. He wanted to make sure the values of the GAA were upheld.
He mentioned a program he started to tackle issues like domestic violence, emphasizing the importance of these values.
Burns said if Naas decided to ignore his advice, that was their choice, but he had to speak up.
He also expressed sympathy for Gallagher’s family, saying it’s a tough situation that shouldn’t be public. But he believes there’s always a way back for people.
Gallagher had stepped back from his role with Derry after the allegations but later resigned. He claimed Burns was trying to sabotage his appointment.
Gallagher accused Burns of overstepping and said this wasn’t the first time Burns had interfered in his life.
He pointed out that social media drama shouldn’t give anyone the right to intervene in personal matters.
