HOLLAND: So, there’s a lot happening in the local government meetings from January 13 to 17. The Sentinel is giving us a heads-up on what to expect, which is pretty cool. It’s a great chance to get involved and see what decisions are being made that affect our community.
These updates will come out every Friday, but keep in mind that if an agenda isn’t posted, it won’t be included. It’s not a requirement for municipalities in Michigan to share agendas ahead of time, but they do need to let folks know about the meetings. So, check your local municipality’s website for the latest info.
Here’s a quick rundown of the main topics for the week. On Tuesday, January 14, the Ottawa County Board will meet to finalize their rules. They’ll also have a Planning and Policy Committee meeting that day, though the agenda isn’t out yet. They’re expected to talk about the county’s invocation policy.
In Allegan County, there’s a Commission on Aging meeting on January 15 to discuss senior health needs, which is super important. They’ll also have an Economic Development Commission meeting that day to welcome a new member and elect some officers.
Over in Holland, the Planning Commission will meet on January 14 to discuss a rezoning request for a bike park. Sounds like a fun project! And if you’re in Saugatuck, they’ve got a City Council meeting on January 13, but no agenda yet.
For those who want to join in remotely, most meetings will be available on YouTube. Just check the respective channels for each municipality. It’s a great way to stay connected and informed about what’s going on in our towns!
