London: Jamie Theakston, the 54-year-old radio host, is making a comeback to Heart Breakfast after a tough battle with cancer. He had been off-air since last year, but he’s ready to return starting Monday.
On Friday, he shared some big news on the show. He mentioned that it was the four-month mark since his cancer diagnosis. He said, “I’m cancer free,” and it felt great to finally be back.
Jamie described his diagnosis as a huge shock. He thought he just had a sore throat, so hearing it might be cancer was mind-blowing for him. He went through multiple surgeries, and at one point, doctors warned him he might not be able to talk again.
He also talked about how tough it was for his family during this time. But the support he received was incredible. He expressed gratitude to everyone who reached out, saying it really blew him away.
Jamie gave a shout-out to DJ Jason King, who filled in for him while he was away. He appreciated how Jason stepped up on short notice, especially with a young family to care for.
For those who don’t know, Jamie has hosted various shows, including The O-Zone and Top Of The Pops. Now, he’s back on Heart Breakfast with Amanda Holden, airing weekdays from 6:30 am to 10 am across the UK.
