Liverpool: Jamie Carragher is really pushing for Liverpool to grab a left-back in January. He believes it could seriously help their chances of clinching the Premier League title.

The Reds had a bit of a setback on Sunday when they drew with Manchester United at home. Now, their lead at the top of the table is down to six points, even though they have a game in hand.

While Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah kept the attack lively with their goals, the defense looked shaky. Manchester United managed to get 13 shots off at Anfield, which isn’t great.

Trent Alexander-Arnold took a lot of heat for his performance, but Andy Robertson didn’t shine either. He was slow to react to a crucial cross that led to United’s late equalizer.

This isn’t the first time Robertson’s been under the microscope this season. Carragher is adamant that Liverpool needs to bolster that position quickly.

“Liverpool need to sign a full-back. I think they need a left-back,” Carragher said during the Sky Sports coverage. He pointed out that while Trent had a rough game, Andy is a club legend but seems to be struggling.

Carragher also mentioned that Kostas Tsimikas isn’t quite up to par to step in for Robertson. He believes that bringing in a left-back in January could really strengthen Liverpool’s title bid.

This isn’t a new take for Carragher. He’s been vocal about Robertson needing some support. “He’s playing too much football. He can still handle 15-20 games a season, but he needs help in January,” he said last month.

Robertson is aware of the chatter around him. He mentioned that he’s been on the bench for a couple of games and is feeling the pressure for the first time at Liverpool. “But it suits me in this position. I am trying to prove people wrong again,” he said.

It looks like he might get a break in the upcoming matches against Tottenham and Accrington Stanley before Liverpool faces Nottingham Forest in a crucial Premier League clash.
