Liverpool: Jamie Carragher recently shared his thoughts on a cryptic post from Mohamed Salah. After the draw with Manchester United, Salah posted a picture with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, but didn’t say much else.
This seemed to hint at the ongoing contract situations for all three players, whose deals are up at the end of the season. There’s still no word on whether they’ll sign extensions.
In the past few months, Salah has been vocal about his contract talks, and he mentioned that he and the club are still quite far from an agreement. Meanwhile, there’s buzz around Alexander-Arnold possibly moving to Real Madrid, especially with the January transfer window approaching.
As for Van Dijk, he’s also in a similar boat regarding his contract. But Carragher had nothing but praise for how Van Dijk has handled everything. He believes Van Dijk has come out of this situation looking great as the team captain.
Carragher said, “Virgil has conducted himself really well. He’s focused on winning and leading the team, and he hasn’t let the contract talks distract him.” He thinks Salah and Alexander-Arnold could learn a thing or two from Van Dijk’s calm approach.
It’s clear that Liverpool fans would appreciate a more measured response from Salah and Alexander-Arnold, similar to what Van Dijk has shown during this tricky time.
