Manchester: So, Jamie Carragher was watching Manchester United’s warm-up before their game against Newcastle, and he noticed something off. He thinks they were practicing their set-piece defense all wrong.
Since Ruben Amorim took over at Old Trafford, United has let in five goals from corners. It seems like the coaching staff is trying to fix that, but Carragher isn’t convinced. He pointed out that they were going through their routines, but it looked like they were missing the mark.
He specifically mentioned that when Christian Eriksen takes an outswinger, the players weren’t positioned right to deal with it. Carragher said they should be moving higher up to defend better. He shared his own experience, saying when he played, he always positioned himself closer to the six-yard box to make a play on the ball.
It’s been a rough start for United again, especially at home. They fell behind early when Alexander Isak scored with a free header. Then, Joelinton doubled the lead with another header from a cross. And of course, there was buzz around Marcus Rashford, who was back in the squad amid questions about his future.
