Orlando: The Knicks bounced back from a tough loss to the Hawks with a solid 100-91 win over the Magic. Jalen Brunson was on fire, scoring 31 points, while Karl-Anthony Towns added a double-double with 22 points and 22 rebounds. It was a great team effort.
Brunson’s performance was impressive, marking his eighth game this season with 30 or more points. He shot 8-of-18 from the field and hit four three-pointers. This game also tied him with Walt “Clyde” Frazier for eighth place in franchise history for 30-point games.
Towns was a beast on the boards, showing his toughness against a physical Magic defense. He’s been a key player for the Knicks since joining the team, and this double-double was his 22nd in just 24 games.
The Magic were missing their star player, Paolo Banchero, which certainly affected their game. Mo Wagner stepped up, scoring 32 points, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win. The Knicks’ defense had some lapses, which coach Tom Thibodeau will want to address.
With this win, the Knicks improved their record to 16-10, moving ahead of the Magic in the Eastern Conference standings. They’re now chasing the Celtics and Cavaliers, but there’s still a long way to go this season.
Next up, the Knicks face the Timberwolves, marking the first game since their trade that brought Towns to New York. It’ll be interesting to see how they perform on the road.
