New York: The Knicks had a bit of a rough start but managed to pull off a solid 104-93 win against the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night. This marks their third win in a row, which is pretty exciting!
Jalen Brunson kicked things off with a three-pointer, giving the Knicks an early lead. The first quarter was a bit shaky for both teams, but it got more interesting as Karl-Anthony Towns and Trey Murphy III started trading threes, keeping the game close.
Things took a turn when the Pelicans went on a 10-0 run, taking their first lead thanks to Jordan Hawkins hitting a three-pointer. He was on fire, scoring nine points in the first half alone.
Brunson finally broke the Knicks’ scoring drought with a three, and they managed to tie it up before the second quarter. However, the Pelicans quickly regained the lead with another run, and the Knicks struggled to find their rhythm, missing their first eight shots of the quarter.
Despite falling behind by 13 points, the Knicks started to chip away at the lead with some timely threes from OG Anunoby and Josh Hart. They ended the half strong, going on a 13-4 run to close the gap.
There was even a quirky moment when the Pelicans’ towel boy got called for a delay of game, leading to a technical free throw that Brunson nailed. Not something you see every day!
As the second half kicked off, Brunson really took charge. He scored 16 points in the third quarter alone, almost half of the Knicks’ total for that period. It was definitely his time to shine!
With Brunson leading the charge, the Knicks secured their win and are now looking forward to their next game against the Toronto Raptors on Monday night. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m., so mark your calendars!
