It’s too late for Aaron Donald to come out of retirement this year

Aaron Donald Can’t Return from Retirement for Rams This Season

Despite calls for his return, Aaron Donald’s retirement means he won’t help the Rams this season as they chase a Super Bowl title

Los Angeles: So, there’s been some chatter about Aaron Donald coming back to the Rams now that they’re eyeing a division title. People think he could help them make a Super Bowl run.

But honestly, it’s just not gonna happen. The Rams put him on the reserve/retired list back in July. And according to NFL rules, he can’t just pop back in whenever he feels like it.

To make things clear, the deadline for him to come off that list was the last business day before Week 13. So, yeah, time’s up.

Sure, the Rams could technically release him from that list and sign him as a free agent. But he’d have to go through waivers first, and you know another team would probably snatch him up.

It’s kind of like what happened with Deion Sanders 22 years ago. The Washington team let him go from the reserve/retired list, and the Chargers jumped in to claim him. A bunch of teams were after him, too.

So, it’s pretty clear: Donald can’t just stroll back into the L.A. facility and save the day. But honestly, the Rams are doing alright. They might just pull off a good season without him.
