Morawa: So, you won’t believe this! A house in Morawa, Western Australia, just sold for only $2000. Yep, you heard that right! It’s being called the bargain of the decade.
This two-bedroom, one-bathroom place is in pretty rough shape. The local council warned everyone that it was “uninhabitable,” but that didn’t stop someone from snatching it up last November.
The house is a total fixer-upper. I mean, the walls are falling down, and everything inside is stained and needs replacing. It’s going to take a lot of work to make it livable again.
The property is on a 1012sqm lot and went up for sale after the previous owner didn’t pay their rates. The local council thought it was a good idea to auction it off.
According to auctioneer Tony Maddox, there were a couple of bidders. One started at $1000, and the other jumped in with a couple grand. It was a quick deal!
After checking with the council CEO, they went ahead and sold it. The buyer plans to renovate, and it’s estimated that once the work is done, the house could be worth between $60,000 and $80,000.
If you’re still hunting for a deal, there’s another cheap home in Lightning Ridge, NSW, listed for $35,000. But just like the Morawa house, it’ll need a lot of TLC to get it up to scratch.
