Dublin: So, there’s this guy, right? He’s been dubbed the Irish ‘Tinder Swindler’ after getting arrested for scamming people out of cash on dates. Crazy, huh?

This fella, in his 30s, was picked up by the Gardai for running a romance fraud scheme. He’s already been released, but the investigation is still rolling.

According to reports, he met his victims on dating apps and pretended to be loaded. Then, during dates, he’d claim his bank card was canceled or stolen, leaving his date to foot the bill.

He even spun some wild tales, saying he was a neurosurgeon, a combat medic, and even a banker. Oh, and he claimed to be part of the British Royal family too!

The scam was pretty sneaky. He’d ask for small amounts, like €250-500, to make it seem legit when he said he’d pay them back later. He even showed fake bank transfers to back it up.

Several victims have come forward, but the Gardai think there are more out there who haven’t spoken up yet. They’re urging anyone affected to reach out.

A Garda spokesperson mentioned that this arrest is part of a larger investigation into romance fraud in Ireland. They’re really keen on hearing from anyone who might have been scammed through dating apps.

In a recent operation, they executed a search warrant at a home in Dublin and seized some electronic items. The investigation is ongoing, and they’re taking this seriously.

So, if you think you’ve been a victim of this kind of fraud, don’t hesitate to contact the Gardai. They promise to handle everything with care and confidentiality.
