Seaham: Yesterday, there was quite a scene on Westlea Road. An air ambulance, along with regular ambulances and police, showed up around 12:45 PM after a crash.

A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving, but he’s been released since then.

Now, the police are asking for help. They want anyone with information or video footage to reach out to them.

They said, “If you have any details, please contact our investigators at SCIU@durham.police.uk and mention incident number 182 from January 14.”

The pedestrian involved was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, thanks to both the air ambulance and road ambulance services.

A spokesperson from the North East Ambulance Service mentioned they were called to the scene just before 12:45 PM, right at the junction of Eastdene Road and the B1285.

They sent a rapid response paramedic, a clinical team leader, and a double crewed ambulance, with support from the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

“One patient was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary by road, with a doctor on board,” they added.

The air ambulance team was activated at 12:52 PM and arrived on the scene at 1:06 PM, working alongside the North East Ambulance Service to treat the patient.
